I get the pots and pans thing with babies and kids. They're loud and it's fun to make a mess, easy to clean up, easily accessible while in the kitchen and keeps baby occupied while Mom (or Dad) might be attempting to fix a meal. My child, has moved on to moving the pots and pans out of the way so she can climb into the cupboard...
So funny. It's like her little clubhouse. She is not opposed to hanging out in the pantry either...
She also has great interest in digging through any drawers she can reach and bringing whatever "treasures" she can find to Mom or Dad. Right now, she can reach the drawers in the bathroom...so the treasures consist of her multiple toothbrushes (I can't help it) toothpaste, travel (unopened) lotions, baby powder, etc. She also loves Mom's drawer which has much more interesting things in it. Nail files, lotion, cosmetic bags that she can't seem to open (thank goodness). I will be very happy to do more childproofing when it comes to that kind of stuff in the new house. While renting, you cannot permanently alter anything, so we have not been able to do a lot of that. I did find these great
adhesive child locks that have worked great with the cabinet under the sink with soap, cleaning stuff, etc in. They actually use a magnet to unlock it, which stays high on the fridge. I was quite impressed actually.
